St. John's Wort, also known as St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum), is a perennial plant native to many parts of the world, including Europe and the United States.

Its name comes from the fact that it blooms around the festival of San Juan. In the Middle Ages it was a plant widely used for mental disorders. It prefers sunny locations and has numerous bright yellow flowers.

The use of plant products and medicinal plants in various forms of preparations is very old, and their ingestion for therapeutic purposes was the main available therapeutic resource for centuries.
