The lingonberry is a fruit or berry of a small shrub that grows wild along roadsides in wetlands. In addition to having its fruits nutritional and therapeutic value, it also protects the soil from erosion. In eastern North America, the native peoples used its fruit for food. One of these towns taught its use to the English in 1620, and since then it has been incorporated into the traditional "Thanksgiving" festival.
Cranberry juice is a supplement known especially among women for its ability to help maintain the good condition of the urinary system.
In the 1920s it was discovered that people who consumed large amounts of cranberries produced "purer" more acidic urine. The effect of the cranberries was to stimulate the creation of a powerful substance called hippuric acid, which was shown to have a strong antibiotic effect on the urinary tract and sometimes even kills infection-causing bacteria. However, the juice has a very sour taste and, for this reason, many commercial juice drinks contain large amounts of sugar (and calories) to disguise this acidity.
LAMBERTS Cranberry Complex is obtained from fresh, ripe cranberries that are first washed and depectinized to remove unwanted substances. The juice is then dehydrated at low temperature and pressure to obtain a sugar-free concentrate.
This ensures that those on sugar-restricted diets can benefit from the unique properties of cranberries. Approximately 25 grams of fresh cranberries are used to prepare one gram of our concentrate.
The Red Cranberry Complex is mixed with a type of soluble fiber, fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), with a sweet taste and that dissolve easily, obtained from the chicory root. FOS act as prebiotics, which means they support the growth of beneficial bacteria that help control troublesome harmful bacteria.
