Argan oil is obtained from the seeds of the argan tree (Argania spinosa). The seeds of this famous African tree have an oil content that can range between 30 and 55%. To obtain the oil, only the fruits that have fallen from the tree are used, since the branches and thorns themselves make it difficult to collect and harvest. The argan tree belongs to the Sapotaceae family, Terpenic Labs imports its Argan oil exclusively from rural areas of Morocco.
Properties: Argan oil is made up of 80% mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids. The spectrum among fatty acids is balanced between oleic acid (C18: 1), linoleic acid (C18: 2) and palmitic acid (C16: 0). It is very rich in vitamin E and also contains phytosterols and squalene.
Uses and applications: Highly valued as an active ingredient in cosmetic products with a cell-stimulating and antioxidant effect. Helps regenerate the skin's own lipid layer.
