Step 1. Hair must be clean, dry and tangle free before use. Rest the iron on its base on a flat, smooth, heat-resistant surface and plug it in. Press and hold the on/off button until the unit powers on and the 'on' indicator illuminates.
Adjust the temperature using the left and right buttons to achieve the desired heat. For a healthier style, we suggest using a temperature setting of 180°C/360°F, unless you have very thick/thick hair.
Step 2. The key to long-lasting, lush waves is preparing your hair correctly. You want to inject your hair with a heat protectant and contour spray, like our Mermaid Mist, that will protect your strands from the heat and give your hair that extra hold.
Step 3. Begin by sectioning hair with our Grip Clips. Smaller sections will create more defined waves. Taking one section at a time, start at the top near the roots and pin the hair, making sure the hair is evenly positioned within the barrels.
Take care not to touch the scalp with the tool. Hold for 2-5 seconds. Hold for less time if hair is easy to curl or if you want less defined waves. Once you have released your first clamp, re-clamp the top wave barrel at the last bend of the wave. You want to layer each wave with your waver to create a perfect wave from roots to ends. Repeat this process to the ends throughout the head.
Step 4. Once you have finished waving, make sure hair has completely cooled before touching to allow hair to set. For an effortless beachy wave, brush the wave out with our Mermade brush or comb through. Finish by using an extra spray of Mermaid Mist to set and shine, or a flexible manageable spray or lacquer spray for more hold.
Step 5. To power off, press and hold the power button until it reads 'power off'. For your safety, the tool will automatically shut down after 60 minutes. Allow tool to cool completely before storing. Be sure to clean the tool after use to prevent product buildup on the tool.

How to hold the waver
You can hold the Mermaid Waver in two positions. Both create the same wave, however wearers may have their own preference for ease of styling.
Flipped Position: Your thumb is on the soft-touch handle and the safety bracket is out. Holding the curler in this inverted position will allow for easier self-styling as you can see the hair through the barrels to hold each wave smoothly. It also means that the first wave goes down creating a very natural look.
Upright Position: Your index finger is on the soft-touch handle and the safety bracket faces in. This way it can be styled easier if you are styling someone else's hair or prefer the wave to move up first.
At what angle to hold the waver
Always hold the curling iron at the same angle to achieve an even look on both sides of your hair. Always hold it parallel to the head so it doesn't create harsh lines. When starting the first wave, be sure to hold the stirrer at a 45 degree angle with some slack to prevent wrinkled lines.
